Finally, No more cold feet: The perfect duvet for you!

by Decor8 Admin 02 Oct 2025

Before we give you more information about Decor8  duvets and share our findings from the duvet review, we'll start with a short guide.

Let's start by clarifying some interesting questions about duvets. What types of duvet fillings are available, and which is the best? Which duvet material is best? We'll clarify the difference between the individual terms, such as all-season duvet and  four-season duvet .

What fillings are available for duvets?

Duvets come in many different varieties. Duvet fillings are generally divided into three main categories: plant-based, animal-based, and synthetic.

Cotton is a plant-based filling. Animal-derived fillings often consist of down, feathers, and wool. The third category includes fillings made of synthetic materials such as microfiber or polyester.

There are many different types of duvet fillings on the market. The best choice depends on your personal preferences. When choosing a duvet, you should pay attention to features such as breathability, moisture regulation, and good material quality.

Which filling is the best?

Down fillings are very soft, regulate temperature well, and are breathable. However, it's important to pay attention to the country of origin when purchasing and avoid live-plucked down bedding. Down and feathers should come from trusted sources to ensure a long-lasting and comfortable filling.

Synthetic fibers are lightweight and often made of hollow polyester fibers, which retain heat well. However, moisture management isn't quite as good as with down filling.

Synthetic fibers must be robust and durable to offer the same quality as natural filling materials. When choosing a particular filling for a duvet, it's crucial to carefully consider the different materials and their properties and make your decision accordingly.

What types of duvets are there?

There are pure summer duvets with minimal filling, winter duvets with good thermal properties for the cold season. But duvet manufacturers also offer all-season duvets or so-called combination duvets.

What is a 4-season duvet?

A four-season duvet is a duvet that can be used throughout the four seasons here in Pakistan. It usually consists of a summer duvet and a year-round duvet, which can be connected or used separately. They are often made of wool or synthetic fibers and have varying filling thicknesses.

Our 4-season duvet hard facts

You've now learned some basic information about duvets and their fillings, and you've learned the names of the different types of duvets available on the market. In this section, we'll introduce you to our test duvet from Decor8.

Our 4-season duvet is available in different sizes. It always consists of two duvets: a thin duvet for summer and a medium-thick duvet for spring and fall. The two duvets can be tied together with strings to create a thick winter duvet.

The duvets are currently made in Germany and connected with snap fasteners.

The covers are made of 100 percent cotton, and the blankets are filled with hollow polyester fibers. They are washable at 30 degrees, are made in Italy, and have several certifications, including Oeko-Tex.

Decor8 duvet review from the home bloggers

Our two duvets arrived well packaged, with free shipping and a carbon-neutral delivery. Like the pillows, they are also "housed" in transparent, zippered bags. These bags are ideal for storing the duvets in our motorhome.

We think the idea of a four-season duvet is simply brilliant. We can use the two duvets of different thicknesses either individually or together, as we do now during the colder months.

So, we've now joined the two duvets and tied them together with the cords or fabric ribbons at the edges of the duvets. Our initial concern was that the ribbons wouldn't stay in place and that the two duvets would develop a certain "life of their own" under the cover.

After changing the duvet cover for the first time during the testing phase, all the loops were still closed. Tip: When joining the two duvets, the loops should be properly tightened. We need to clarify why other fastening methods, such as snap fasteners or Velcro, aren't used.

As I said, we were skeptical at first about whether the two blankets under one duvet cover would work. But even though we both tend to move around more than less at night, the blankets didn't slip.

Our Customers said:

We're also happy with the material in other respects. The 100 percent cotton cover of the duvets is comfortable and super breathable. We just had to get used to the quiet "crackling" sound they make. Our old duvets were rather silent :-)

This duvet also works in winter

During the testing phase, there were a few nights with sub-zero temperatures. Not our kind of weather, but ideal for testing whether the 4-season duvet works even in the depths of winter. The result: We didn't freeze, and the warmth was retained well. Since we sleep very cold, we also like to use a hot water bottle on extremely cold nights to provide a base layer of warmth under the duvet.

Conclusion: For us, a four-season duvet is the optimal solution. We've already briefly mentioned that, especially for the motorhome, having two duvets makes perfect sense. We often had the problem that we first traveled to cold areas and then a few days later to warmer climes, and our duvets were never quite right for the weather. We've now "fixed" that problem. When it gets warmer, we take out one of the duvets and store it in the pockets, protected from dirt. A very flexible system.

Sure, the duvets aren't exactly a bargain, but we're of the opinion that it's better to spend money on something "good" once rather than buying a supposed bargain that doesn't work out. Buy cheap, buy and pay twice, as the saying goes.
