What types of wax candles are there?

Paraffin wax candles

The most commonly sold wax candles are artificial candles: they are made of paraffin, a petroleum product. Cheaper versions are made from granules using a pressing process, while higher quality ones are cast – the latter burn longer and more evenly and produce less soot.

Stearin wax candles

Stearin is obtained from animal or vegetable oils and fats , usually coconut oil or palm oil. Stearin wax candles are heavier and more stable than their paraffin counterparts. The candles, which are mainly made using the pouring process, burn more evenly and more slowly.

Beeswax candles

A natural, often marbled or honeycomb-like appearance, a pleasantly sweet scent and a good environmental impact characterize candles made from beeswax. LED wax candles

A paraffin candle burns about 7 g of wax per hour. This means you can easily calculate the burning time yourself: A 100 g candle is used up after about 14 hours. The stearin consumption is about 6 g per hour, so a 100 g candle lasts about 16 hours. Beeswax candles burn the longest, with about 4 g of wax consumed per hour. According to this rule of thumb, 100 g lasts about 25 hours.
